What Is a Visual Screening Test?

We perform tests with and without prescribed corrective lenses, where applicable, to evaluate a person’s unaided and corrected vision capabilities.

Visual Tests We Perform

1. Snellen Chart – Distance Visual Acuity

The Snellen test is the classic "eye chart" featuring letters of decreasing size. It is used to measure how well a person can see objects at a distance (typically 6 metres or 20 feet).

Tested with and without corrective lenses

2. Near Vision Chart

This test evaluates how well an individual can see objects at a close distance, such as reading labels, computer screens, or small parts.

Crucial for roles involving clerical tasks, inspection work, or device handling
Often performed alongside the Snellen test

3. Ishihara Test – Colour Vision Screening

This test checks for colour vision deficiency, particularly red-green colour blindness.

Involves identifying numbers or patterns in coloured dot plates
Important in industries like electrical work, aviation, rail, or chemical handling where colour-coded systems are in use
